It Still Doesn't Matter Who Satoshi Is | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

The Bitcoin-sphere has been a-buzz about clumsy revelations that Dr. Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto. I refuse to link to the pieces in mind as these the authors clearly care more about getting clicks than making sure their claims are valid.

Assange: Bitcoin and WikiLeaks Helped Keep Each Other Alive - CoinDesk | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Julian Assange has described how bitcoin founder ‘Satoshi Nakamoto’ asked him not to use the fledgling digital currency for WikiLeaks fundraising, and how going along with that request helped protect bitcoin from government scrutiny during its early days.

The colossal arrogance of Newsweek’s Bitcoin “scoop”

The colossal arrogance of Newsweek’s Bitcoin “scoop” | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

The scoop couldn't have come at a better time. Bitcoins have exploded in value over the last year, making early investors rich, and the crypto-currency is finally emerging from wonky tech circles to gain traction with a mainstream audience. The idea that Bitcoin founder “Satoshi Nakamoto”—long thought to be a pseudonym—was living in a modest house in a Los Angeles suburb, and under his real name, was irresistible.

New chase for Bitcoin founder leaves everyone exhausted and no wiser

New chase for Bitcoin founder leaves everyone exhausted and no wiser | Peer2Politics | Scoop.it

Nobody knows, and in the style of all good mysteries, nobody is talking. Satoshi Nakamoto is almost certainly a pseudonym, which could be used by anyone. Yet another mad chase for Nakamoto through the Internet this week ended the same way all the searches for him end: (spoiler alert) in dead ends and blind alleys.

The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences is, as with most Nobel prizes, quite a big deal. Past laureates are a who’s who of economics—and starting in 2016, that list could include the inventor of Bitcoin. Assuming, of course, someone works out who that is.

The Newsweek Credibility Matrix

Newsweek returned to print on March 6th with a genuine bombshell: it had found the real Satoshi Nakamoto. The article, written by Leah McGrath Goodman, claimed to have accomplished what previous articles from The New YorkerFast Company and other publications had failed to do. Its claims were stunning: after years of searches from very capable journalists, Newsweek claimed that the secretive person who used the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto had, in fact, not used a pseudonym at all – his name was Satoshi Nakamoto.
