Create and Show Presentations In Sync To Unlimited Viewers with Slides

Robin Good's insight:

Slides has released some interesting new features for its good web-based presentation service.

The first one is the ability to show a presentation to an unlimited audience of viewers, who can see your slide changes in sync with you, and without having to download or install anything.

The second one is a new speaker note facility that allows the presenter to see not only the slide being shown, but also the next one, alongside two timers, one for the time gone and one for the actual clock time.

Summary: Slides is a great HTML5 presentation creation tool, that makes it very easy to create, edit and publish presentation both online and off. Definitely worth a try.

Free version available.

Create, Organize and Edit Cross-Format Presentations Online with Bunkr

Robin Good's insight:

Bunkr is a new web app which allows you to easily collect and organize all of your existing content and images and to build up visual presentations by easily dragging and dropping your selected items into a dedicated presentation area.

Bunkr slides can be easily edited, with text, images or video clips. Slides can be easily deleted, moved or rearranged intuitively.

An integrated library + search facility makes it easy to organize in a professional way all of your imported content so that you can use it for more than just one time.

The final presentation can be saved, previewed and exported to HTML5 iframe embed code, PDF or PPTX formats for final publication and distribution.

My initial impressions are quite positive as the tool feels fast, and quite intuitive (after you have seen the tutorial clips). From there everything works as expected and once you have imported your selected content, you can build a presentation in a matter of minutes.

Some features that would make Bunkr an immediate winner with me would be:

a) Ability to search for resources (content+images+video) out on the web

b) Option to import an image in a slide and have it automatically fill the whole slide

c) Better text control handling (small controls, low usability) to make it easy to edit text easily and format it faster

d) Some great display fonts

Free to use.

Check out these mini-tutorial clips:

Definitely worth trying out.

Create Interactive Browser-Based HTML5 Presentations with Presentate (Alpha)

Create Interactive Browser-Based HTML5 Presentations with Presentate (Alpha) | Presentation Tools | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Presentate is a new web-based HTML5 presentation builder which promises flawless compatibility across operating systems and devices, integrated interactivy and some integrated design and editorial guidance.

From the official site: "Exporting your deck to a PDF, or uploading it to a Flash-based player shares a low-fidelity snapshot of your presentation. The accompanying narrative is lost, and your readers are left with pull quotes, sound bytes, or a bullet point summary.

Presentate does things differently. As you create your presentations right in the browser, they’re immediately ready to be shared with people, and the fidelity and value of all your hard work remains intact — no exporting process, no hassle."

"Unlike your current tools, Presentate helps you engage your audience — not with effects and gimmicks, but with a high-fidelity, immersive experience that works across all platforms."

Easily Create Great HTML5 Presentations That Work Across Devices with Emaze

Easily Create Great HTML5 Presentations That Work Across Devices with Emaze | Presentation Tools | Scoop.it

Robin Good's insight:

Emaze is a new web-based HTML5 presentation builder, that makes it extremely easy for anyone to create effective presentations that can be viewed across different types of screens and devices. Emaze presentations can also be downloaded and played offline as well be embedded on any web site or blog.

Emaze provides a set of ready-made templates that include sample text and images as to make easiest for the user to edit and replace these with its own custom text and images. Emaze supports also the integration of video clips, the creation of different sections within a presentation and the option to make a slideset private or public depending on needs.

My comment: In the same family as Slid.es and several others, emaze is a great and very promising web-based HTML5 presentation tool.

Easy to use, it sports a clean and simple interface. All operations are intuitive and commands easy to find, though in general many icons-buttons are a bit to small for my taste.

The basic templates are good, above average, but here it is where I would expect additional improvements as these can really make a difference in the usefulness of the whole tool.

Free to use.

Create HTML5-CSS3 Compatible Web Presentations with SlideCaptain

Create HTML5-CSS3 Compatible Web Presentations with SlideCaptain | Presentation Tools | Scoop.it
Robin Good's insight:

SlideCaptain is a new web-based web presentation app, which allows you to create full HTML5-CSS3 slideshows, with text and images, which can be exported as HTML or PDF files.

SlideCaptain introduces the "flow" concept, allowing sequences of slides to have branches and alternative directions. Instead of being able to go only to the "next" slide, I can also set up a slide "up" and one "down", allowing myself for three different display options after anyone slide. Furthermore a very useful navigation icon, displayed at the bottom right of my slides reminds me at all times which navigation options I have at every slide.

The app integrates with a number of online services like Flickr, Instagram and Google Drive to facilitate importing and integrating images into slideshows. You can even search directly for image files on the web and import them directly onto your slides.

By default presentations are set to "private", but as soon as you want to, you can share them publicly for everyone to see.

My comment: Powerful and promising presentation editor, altough not so intuitive as would be expected. For example, inserting new items in a slide is not as clear as it should be. Look forward to improvements in the editor UI and workflow.

Free to use.

HTML5 Goes Beyond Prezi But for Geeks Only: Impress.js

Robin Good: The video opening titles for Museum140 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObLiikJEt94) have been created with a new tool that leverages the power of HTML5 to achieve results that are identical to those that you can achieve with Prezi, the alternative presentation tool.

Impress.js is a presentation tool inspired by the idea behind prezi.com and based on the power of CSS3 transforms and transitions in modern browsers.

Though Impress.js remains for now a tool for geeks and people who can use code, Impress.js heralds the upcoming legion of HTML5 presentation tools that will be likely start to rapidly grow in 2012.

Text, images and graphic elements can be easily positioned on a virtually infinite canvas in which they can be easily scaled, resized and positioned at will. Even a 3D rendering effect is available.
