Render, Embed and Publish Interactive 3D Objects with Cubize

Robin Good's insight:

Cubize is a web app which allows you to upload standard 3D CAD files and have them rendered as 3D interactive, manipulable objects that can be embedded on any web site.

Supported 3D file formats include:

  • Collada (.dae)
  • Wavefront (.obj)
  • 3DS (.3ds)
  • Lightwave (.lwo)
  • Polygon File Format (.ply)
  • Standard Tessellation Language (.stl)
  • Object File Format (.off)

With Cubize it is also possible to choose how the 3D objects are rendered (materials and textures, shininess, reflectivity, bump maps and more) and displayed in terms of size and aspect ratio, whether they are floating or on the ground, its background and more.

3D objects rendered with Cubize can be annotated, commented, tagged and easily shared on all social media channels.

To run Cubize your browser must support WebGL. Check here for compatibility.

Publish and Share Your 3D Models on the Web with Sketchfab

Robin Good: Sketchfab is a web-based service which allows you to publish, embed and share fully interactive 3D models online without the need to install any special software or browser plugin.

Sketchfab is like a YouTube for 3D interactive models.

To use Sketchfab you only need to create a free account and upload a 3D model file in one of the 25 supported formats. After processing, standard technologies like WebGL and HTML5 are used in your browser to display your 3D models in real-time.

The web-visualized version of your 3D model can then be made public and can be embedded in any web site or blog. You can also easily remove the models you uploaded anytime you want to.
